Mets’ Francisco Lindor Celebrates Father’s Day, Daughter’s Birth in Style

It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours for Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor, who missed his first start in a year Saturday after his wife, Katia, gave birth to the couple’s second daughter.

On Sunday, Lindor fittingly made his return on Father’s Day for Game 3 of the Mets’ series against the Cardinals, and he celebrated the occasion in style with his first at-bat.

Lindor stepped to the plate with New York trailing 2–0 in bottom of the first inning, and the four-time All-Star narrowed the Mets’ deficit with a 401-foot solo home run that sailed deep over the left-field wall, giving the proud girl dad his 13th homer of the season to further commemorate a special day.

The bomb may have provided some relief for Lindor, who has struggled so far this season, and the highlight also made for a nice tribute to his family’s newest addition, daughter Amapola Chloé.

Now a father of two, Lindor figures to have a little extra motivation on his side as he looks to turn around his season. On the year, the 29-year-old is hitting .213 with 57 hits and 45 RBIs.
