MIAMI — The Brandon Nimmo Show seemed to enjoy its run in Miami this season.
As the Mets rolled to another win over the Marlins, 9-3, Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and a pair of walks, highlighting another productive day for the hitters.
That capped Nimmo’s big season series in South Florida. He hit .359 (14-for-39) with three homers and 12 RBIs in nine games here.
The Mets finished their road trip against two terrible teams with a 4-2 mark, taking series against the Pirates and Marlins.
Jeff McNeil went 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Tomas Nido went 3-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored. He and Eduardo Escobar added solo home runs in the ninth inning.
Miami lefthander Jesus Luzardo helped the Mets beat him by walking three batters, hitting two more, throwing a wild pitch and having a general inability to know where his pitches were going. They reached him for five runs in 3 1/3 innings, forcing him out of the game early by driving up his pitch count: 29 pitches in the first inning, 24 in the second, 24 more in the third and 15 in the fourth.
Taijuan Walker dominated for seven innings, allowing his only run on Brian Anderson’s homer in the fourth. He struck out 10 and walked none, his first walk-free, double-digit-strikeout game since June 2021.
