A Metrolink line was blocked this morning after a crash between a tram and a van in Manchester city centre.
The crash happened on Cross Street near Exchange Square at around 9.50am. Pictures showed the damaged tram stationary on the track.
According to Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), the outbound line to Didsbury was blocked. Normal services have now resumed, with some delays remaining.

A TfGM spokesperson said: “At 9.50am this morning (Tuesday 8 March) we received reports of a collision between a tram and a van near Exchange Square, which blocked the outbound line to Didsbury and led to all Rochdale to Didsbury services operating via Shudehill and Market Street. Services from Didsbury to Rochdale were unaffected.
“As of 10.20am the service is now on the move and normal services are resuming, with some delays.”
