It's December, so you may well have some Christmas shopping to do.
The Metrocentre in Gateshead is open until the late evening on weekdays, so there is plenty of time to get some bits and pieces after work.
Home to a mix of big-name retailers and independents, there is a range of choices in the malls, as well as places to fuel up on food. And with enough free parking for 10,000 cars it's the ideal place to go if you are ferrying home some bigger gifts.

Up until Christmas Eve (Saturday December 24), the MetroCentre will be open as follows
- Sunday - 11.00am - 5.00pm
- Monday - 9.00am - 9.00pm
- Tuesday - 9.00am - 9.00pm
- Wednesday - 9.00am - 9.00pm
- Thursday - 9.00am - 9.00pm
- Friday - 9.00am - 9.00pm
- Saturday - 9.00am - 8.00pm
Metrocentre Christmas Week 2022 opening hours
- On Christmas Eve (Saturday December 24) the Metrocentre will be open from 9am to 5pm
- It will be shut on Christmas Day (Sunday December 25).
- On Boxing Day (Monday December 26) the MetroCentre opens from 10am to 6pm
- Wednesday December 28 - 9am - 9pm
- Thursday December 29 - 9am - 9pm
- Friday December 30 - 9am - 9pm
- New Years Eve (Saturday December 31) - 9am - 5pm
- New Years Day (Sunday January 1, 2023) - Shops closed but some restaurants may be open
Normal trading hours resume from Tuesday January 3, 2023.
