Learning and development specialist (signalling)

Job description:
You will be responsible for the design, delivery and assessment/verification of a range of skills and knowledge relating to signalling and general engineering within Nexus.
Based at the Nexus Learning Centre in South Shields, you will contribute towards the training, development and assessment of all staff ranging from apprentices to managers and contractors.
Candidates will have a minimum of a level three qualification in a relevant subject, a minimum of three years' experience in the rail sector and suitable teaching/training and assessment experience/qualifications.
Customer Service Advisor
Salary: £22,246.51
Job description:
Nexus is looking for a number of motivated individuals with great customer service skills who love dealing with people. If successful you will be deployed on the network carrying out customer service duties, providing onward travel information and advice. Full training will be given.
Engineer (civil and structures)
Salary: £39,397 to £59,101 pa
Job Description:
Based at Nexus Rail Headquarters, in Gosforth, you will ensure the safe condition of Nexus' civil and structural engineering assets.
Working with a team of engineers, you will play an important role in the asset management, infrastructure works delivery and implementation and development of standards.
You will be involved in the specification, design and delivery of renewals and refurbishments of a variety of assets including bridges, earthworks, tunnels, stations, depots and retaining walls.
Skilled maintainer - electrical
Salary: £34,665 pa
Job description:
In this highly skilled maintenance role, you will work as part of a two-person team to ensure that building and plant facilities including lifts and escalators are maintained in good order, efficiently, safely and economically whilst providing maximum asset availability.
You will hold a level three engineering qualification or equivalent and will have a current full driving licence.
Operations planning manager
Salary: £39,397 to £59,101 pa
Job description:
Based at the Metro Control Centre in South Gosforth, you will be responsible for leading the Operations Planning Team in the production of all short and long term planning changes, the production of Metro timetables, and train crew diagrams.
The successful candidate will also play a central role in introducing new planning and resource software and ensuring the team can deliver the requirements of the Metro Futures Fleet replacement programme.
Production supervisor buildings and facilities
Salary: Total salary package circa. £16,667 to £25,003 pa
Job description:
You will manage maintenance staff within the buildings and facilities section ensuring that maintenance works are carried out and standards set, ensuring safety, performance and quality standards are met by providing a reliable and cost-effective service.
You will hold a BTEC or level three or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject, have knowledge and experience of the equipment/systems within Buildings & Facilities and have evidence of team leadership skills. A driving licence is essential.
Customer relations manager
Salary: £39,397 to £59,101 pa
Job description:
You will be responsible for the efficient handling, processing and reporting of all written and telephone based customer contact to agreed timescales.
You will manage the production of all Nexus smartcards, ensuring performance meets quality and production standards.
You will manage the administration of the Metro Penalty Fares system to ensure penalty fares and appeals are recorded and processed and appropriate action is taken to recoup monies owed.
Bus service apprentice
Salary: Age dependent (not less than apprentice minimum wage)
Job description:
Commencing in September 2023, you will learn how Nexus establishes requirements for new secured service routes, to arrange consultations and to procure new bus contracts and the ongoing management of operations.
You will also play a part in developing schools’ services and community transport, as well as reporting and monitoring of statistics relating to patronage and compliance.
The firm is looking for a colleague who has keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a good understanding of public transport and the important role buses play in the daily lives of people in the local area.
In order to apply you must have or be predicted to have 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above which include Mathematics and English.
