Metra train strikes car in Arlington Heights

A Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line hit a car Thursday afternoon in Arlington Heights, according to Metra.

About 5:20 p.m., the train struck a car at the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department.

The driver of the car that was struck was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injures, police said.

The rail grade crossing has reopened, police said.

Metra police are investigating the accident.
