Two men have been convicted following a major drugs bust by Met Police officers in southeast London.

Met officers were on patrol last July when they witnessed a drugs deal involving Ben Zeto, 30, of Main Road, Biggin Hill and Adam Lyons, 35, of Riverpark Way, Birmingham.

After following Zeto, Met officers discovered a black bag containing 10 kilograms of cocaine with a value of £10million. Zeto was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Lyons was tracked down in his blue Audi at a service station in Cobham, Surrey. He was also arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

An investigation that looked into Lyons’ mobile phone showed he was using an encrypted app, Wickr, to communicate with an unknown individual, who was giving instructions about several drop offs, the Met said.

Both men were found guilty by a jury at Croydon Crown Court on February 3 and will be sentenced at a later date.

Detective sergeant Andy Snazell who led the investigation, said: “We were shocked to discover such a large amount of drugs that day, but it goes to show how important proactive policing is and we have prevented a huge amount of cocaine making it onto London’s streets.

“Those drugs would have gone on to cause misery in the local community.

“There is no doubt the pair met that day to transfer the drugs and now they will pay the price for becoming involved in such a serious crime.”
