Met Police officer sacked after sexually assaulting child at party

A serving Met Police officer has been sacked after being convicted of sexually assaulting a child at a party.

PC Farhan Ghadiali, attached to the Central West Command, that covers Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster, was found guilty of sexually assaulting the child in September 2019 in Buckhurst Hill, Essex while off duty.

He originally appeared for trial at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court in May 2022, when the outcome was a hung jury.

But he was found guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court last month following a retrial and will be sentenced at the same court next Wednesday.

A misconduct panel on Friday found PC Ghadiali guilty of gross misconduct and he was dismissed without notice.

The convicted officer did not provide a statement to the hearing, nor was he represented.

Chief Superintendent Louise Puddefoot, Central West Command Unit, said: “PC Ghadiali was found guilty of an extremely serious offence.

“If the Met is to secure both the confidence and trust of the public we need to better protect our integrity by rooting out those that are not fit to serve, such as this individual who today has been dismissed.

“We are putting more resources into investigating allegations of such misconduct.”

PC Ghadiali had been suspended from duty since December 2020.
