A Met Police detective has been charged over alleged coercive and controlling behaviour.

Detective Constable Asiri Hamidi, 34, attached to the South Area Command Unit, which serves Bromley, Croydon, and Sutton, will appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

He was charged with coercive control on Friday, January 31.

The force said the charge relates to an allegation made to the police in April 2022 and the alleged offending is said to have taken place while the detective was off-duty.

DC Hamidi has been suspended while the criminal investigation is ongoing, said a Met Police spokesperson.
