The Met Office has warned of possible flooding as heavy rain is expected to hit the southeast coast of England. Spray and flooding may cause difficult driving conditions and some road closures through Friday and Saturday, reports the Mirror.
It brings potential delays or cancellations to train and bus services while there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, forecasters warned. And it comes as temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in some parts of the country this weekend.
Many areas will see temperatures down to single figures at night, while some in the far north will even see sub-zero lows. Snow may also fall on higher ground in Scotland, though this is not expected to cause any disruption.
Senior weather forecaster at the Met Office, Aidan McGivern said: "Across the UK temperatures are going to be below average for the second half of the weekend and into Monday as well as Tuesday. As temperatures will drip to low single figures and below zero for some overnight it’ll be cold enough for a touch of frost and some snow showers. It's really going to be over the tops of the Scottish mountains and there's nothing particularly unusual about that at this time of year.”
More snow is also expected over the next 10 days, with two inches forecast to hit the mountains. And the changing weather will continue with gales predicted in the northeast of the UK starting from Monday.
