The Met Office has explained when snow may hit Liverpool and the rest of the north west amid warnings over bitter cold and frost.
With cold air crossing the Arctic, a yellow warning for ice has been issued across Merseyside for Thursday and Friday, December 9. Forecasters say it is becoming increasingly cold, with temperatures dropping to a minimum of -8C in the evening.
The outlook for Saturday to Monday, according to the Met Office is cold again with some wintry showers. It's not clear how long this cold spell will last, however, it is expected to stay cold into next week with temperatures remaining well below average for the time of year.

Parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the south of England can expect snow, with the north missing out - for now. However the Met Office's long range forecast predicts we could expect to see a winter flurry or two later this month.
Predicted "uncertain" weather for the period from December 22 to January 5 suggests conditions will be "changeable" with "at times snow".
This forecast continues: "These expected to be accompanied by strong winds, initially focused in southern parts, but affecting all areas at times. Colder and more settled conditions with occasional wintry showers could continue, particularly in the north.
"Temperatures gradually returning closer to average towards the end of December and start of January."
