The Met Office has issued an ice warning for parts of the North West of England.
The region enjoyed unseasonably warm conditions for large parts of November. However, temperatures have dropped as more typically wintry weather has arrived at the start of December.
The cold weather is set to continue as the Met Office has now issued a yellow alert for large parts of the UK. The warning extends to areas of the Wirral and is in force from 12am - 6pm on Thursday, December 8.

The weather forecasters expect disruption to be likely due to the icy surfaces. It added: "Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
"Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle path. Some roads and railways may be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services."
The North West has been hit with dry and frosty weather this morning. The forecasters expect the mercury to plummet below zero tonight as the temperature will drop to -2C.
The full forecast reads: "Remaining dry but cold on Tuesday night with light winds. Mostly clear skies overnight leading to a widespread frost across the region. Minimum temperature -2 °C."
"Wednesday: Staying dry on Wednesday after a frosty start, but plenty of prolonged sunshine through the day. Winds staying light, but feeling cold in the northerly breeze. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
"Outlook Thursday to Saturday: Staying mostly dry with sunny spells through the rest of the week. Isolated showers are possible, and these could turn wintry at times. Becoming increasingly cold with widespread overnight frosts."
