Met Office shows 12-hour deluge to lash Bristol ahead of possible snow next week

Bristol will see more than 12 hours of rain today, according to the Met Office.

The forecasting service states that the light rain will start at 1pm and will continue until 2am on Friday, with the rain being heavy at some points in the afternoon. There has been some light rain in the city this morning already.

However, looking at the weather forecast for the rest of the week, the Met Office expects Bristol to be dry over the weekend. On Friday, it will be cloudy changing to sunny intervals by late morning, with the weather being cloudy on Saturday and Sunday but no rain being forecast.

Temperatures will stay between 10C and 2C. Weather map WX Charts predicts heavy rain will fall on Friday (March 4) and into next week, with temperatures set to be their lowest at -5.5C on Saturday (March 5) and Sunday (March 6). Snow is predicted to fall in Bristol next Friday, March 11.

Today:

A band of cloud and occasional rain edging eastwards across the region this morning. Brighter skies and some sunshine following to Cornwall and Devon by this afternoon. Light to moderate winds. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Any remaining drizzle and rain becoming confined to Wiltshire and Gloucestershire overnight. Most areas turning dry with clear periods, but a few showers drifting onto western coasts later. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Friday:

A drier and brighter day is in store for most, with some sunshine at times, but also a few showers in the west. Eastern counties may remain cloudier. Light winds. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Mostly dry but often rather cloudy. Some sunny intervals are possible, but there will also be a chance of a few showers. Feeling quite cold with patchy overnight frost.
