Met Office severe weather warning for rain issued covering most of Wales

A severe weather warning has been issued for much of Wales.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain. This follows a similar warning that covered much of south Wales overnight on Friday/Saturday. This caused fields to be flooded, raging rivers and even a small landslide.

When is the weather warning?

Which areas are affected?

The map below shows the area covered by the yellow weather warning. It covers much of the Valleys, Powys, Ceredgion and most of North Wales except for Ynys Mon. and western parts of Gwynedd.

A similar warning is in place for large parts of the north west of England as well.

What to expect

According to the Met Office there will be persistent heavy rain which may lead to some disruption on Tuesday. Issues could include:

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads will probably make journey times longer
  • There could be some interruption to power supplies and other services
