Met Office predicts rain for South West next week with showers in Bristol

The Met Office has predicted rain for much of the West Country next week - as flood warnings still persist across parts of England.

However, for Bristol, the weekend and the rest of the week looks to be mostly rain free, with some showers potentially occuring on Monday night.

Otherwise, be prepared for a smattering of mid-September sunshine and patches of cloud.

This period of calm weather will be much welcomed by most, after last week saw thunderstorms and lightning scar our skies. Here is the Met Office's predictions for the rest of the weekend and next week:

Here are the Met Office's predictions for the rest of the weekend and next week in Bristol:

Sunday: "Sunny intervals changing to cloudy by lunchtime."

Monday: "Cloudy."

Tuesday: "Cloudy changing to sunny intervals in the afternoon."

Wednesday: "Sunny."

Thursday: "Cloudy changing to sunny intervals by late morning."

Friday: "Sunny intervals."

This is the Met Office forecast for the South West for the rest of the weekend and into next week:

Today

Sunday will see early morning mist or low cloud slowly lift to give some warm sunshine. Rain will affect the far southwest of Cornwall and north Devon coasts later. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday

Monday will be mostly dry though with some showers or longer spells of rain at times. A chance of some showers through Tuesday and Wednesday though remaining mostly dry.
