Met Office predicts Bristol temperatures set to soar higher than tropical Isles of Scilly

The temperature in Bristol is set to reach almost the 20C mark today (May 14) just in time for thousands of runners to take on the Great Bristol Run in the city.

With highs of 19C expected today it will be higher than the temperature expected in the more tropical Isles of Scilly. The Met Office has forecast the day could start with some cloud which will break in the morning.

The day is expected to be sunny and warm - but there is a risk of rain showers arriving during the evening. The temperature will fall again to around 16C on Monday (May 15), which is predicted to be breezy with some sunny spells broken with showers.

The wind will drop on Tuesday with cooler temperatures during the week and will only rise again towards the end of the week, with 18C expected on Friday.

The weather for this week will largely be dry and settled with high pressure dominating across the UK. Winds are expected to stay light.

Long range forecasts are looking at scorching temperatures of 35C in June and August. Forecasters said this will be due to an ‘African plume’ of air bringing dry hot conditions to the UK.
