Met Office pollen count forecast for Wales for the coming days

Hay fever suffers can expect a slight relief over the weekend as the Met Office predicts there will be a slight decrease in the pollen count. Wales has been experiencing very high levels of pollen for the last few weeks due to the hot and dry weather.

Hay fever sufferers have reported that their symptoms are far worse than normal for this time of year with few people able to get any sort of relief from medications and remedies. For those of you struggling these are the remedies scientists say actually work while some experts also recommend specific foods to help. And there are also several lesser-known hay fever symptoms which you can read about here.

The Met Office combines data from its weather service with expertise from organisations such as the National Pollen and Aerobiological Unit to produce a pollen forecast for the whole of the UK. The outlook for the coming days shows that while pollen count is expected to decrease it likely won't be enough to make a significant difference to people suffering with the symptoms.

According to the Met Office it is currently peak season for grass pollen. Nettle, dock, and plantain pollen are also in peak season. This is the pollen forecast for the coming days:

Friday, June 16: Very high

Saturday, June 17: High

Sunday, June 18: High

Monday, June 19: High

The decrease in pollen count over the weekend will come hand-in-hand with predicted rain for a lot of Wales. While the rain may decrease pollen levels that day it isn't good news for hay fever sufferers as the Met Office says rain helps grass grow well and if it's followed by dry weather there will be higher levels of pollen.
