A YELLOW weather warning for thunderstorms and flooding has been issued for parts of Scotland.
The Met Office had issued a weather alert on Saturday for large parts of England for stormy weather and has now updated the warning to include the south and east of Scotland which will last the whole of Sunday.
The yellow warning has been in effect since 4 am this morning and was originally in place until 9pm.
However, the Met Office has updated the alert until midnight and has warned there could be a chance of flooding and power outages in some areas.
The areas affected in Scotland include Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, and small parts of Strathclyde.
Along with heavy rain and a possible thunderstorm, the weather forecast has also warned that some public transport could be disrupted or cancelled.
It also warned motorists that due to spray on the roads driving conditions could be difficult.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Through today, areas of heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to move north across England, into parts of Wales and later into Scotland.
“The extent of these thunderstorms remains very uncertain and whilst many places will miss them, some places may see 30 to 40 mm of rainfall in less than an hour and perhaps over 60-80 mm in one or two places.
“Frequent lightning strikes and hail will be additional hazards.”
