The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Merseyside ahead of the Grand National Festival.
Forecasters said they expect strong winds overnight through to tomorrow morning. The Met Office said: "Across North Wales and northwest England, winds are expected to peak during the early hours, when gusts will widely reach 50 to 60 mph, and possibly around 70 mph close to some coasts.
"Here winds will ease somewhat by daybreak, and then more markedly during the morning."

The Met Office's weather warning is currently in place for Merseyside between 8pm tonight and 5am tomorrow morning. It's expected the strong winds will impact travel.
What to expect
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are possible
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible in a few locations
The Grand National Festival begins tomorrow (Thursday) for NHS Day. The gates open at 11am and the first race begins at 1.45pm.
The Met Office's current forecast predicts rain between 8am and 2pm tomorrow. Sunny intervals are expected after. Wind gusts will remain high throughout the day, around 38mph.
Rain is expected again on Ladies Day at 7pm. However, Saturday will be sunny, with temperatures peaking at 8°C.
