A yellow weather warning for snow has been issued for West Lothian from 3pm today, as temperatures drop across the county and surrounding areas in Edinburgh.
Weather forecasters originally predicted snow for the second week of the month but the Met Office has issued an update as a nip in the air brings with it some unexpected snowfall.
Today at 3pm, the Met Office have said that "Heavy snow showers may lead to some travel disruption, especially over high routes" across West Lothian.

The forecasters have told local residents to expect roads and railways to be affected by this warning, and to plan ahead for longer journeys.
According to the meterologists, the weather will be "frequent and occasionally heavy snow showers are expected on Saturday night and Sunday, and combined with strong westerly winds will lead to blizzard conditions and drifting snow on higher routes across Highland.
"Accumulations of 2 to 5 cm are possible in places, with 10 to 15 cm accumulating on routes above 300 metres.
"Icy patches will be an additional hazard, more especially across western coastal areas."
In terms of the full forecast for the area, the Met Office has said in basic terms, "Cold with brisk winds, wintry showers, these focused in west."
Tonight's forecast
Cold in fresh to strong west to northwest winds. Wintry showers, occasional across Dumfries and Galloway, but few are expected to reach the east coast. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Saturday's forecast
Dull, wet morning with snow initially to quite low levels. Gradually turning drier through the afternoon with best chance of some late brightness from the Central Belt northwards. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday
Wintry showers Sunday mainly west, also severe gales possible in west. Cloudy, patchy rain Monday. Tuesday uncertain but current thoughts cloud, rain dominating, with chance brighter spells sporadically across north.
Readers of Edinburgh Live have sent us in their views of the snow in West Lothian, with some even coming further east in Edinburgh.
In Clermiston, the snow and sleet is really falling hard, as the weather swirls around the housing estates in the capital.
Great Junction Street in Leith is also facing the brunt of the weather, with snow flurrying around the busy main road.
Meadowbank in Edinburgh is looking to be matching the rest of the capital in terms of snowy storms, with the wind whipping the wintry weather around this street in the area.
Whitburn in West Lothian seems to be taking the full force of the snow, with this video depicting the scenes this afternoon.
