The Met Office have issued a weather warning as forecasts show the North East is set heavy showers and thunderstorms.
The leading meteorologists are forecasting torrential downpours thunderstorms on Friday which may cause some impacts to travel over the coming hours.
The North East looks for a day of wet weather which will be especially prolonged in the north of the region, with the coast experiencing the most breeze.

As it stands, the yellow weather warning has not been extended beyond Friday and rain is expected to subside over the course of the night.
The warning covers County Durham and Darlington and is in place from 12pm to 7pm. However, most of the rest of the North East is expected to see heavy showers throughout the day.
The Met Office's weather forecast for today is as follows: "A dull and cloudy day with outbreaks of rain, occasionally heavy and more prolonged in the north, particularly over the Cheviots.
"Perhaps remaining largely dry in the far south. Breezy along coastal areas. Maximum temperature 17C."
The rain is set to continue into the evening also before easing through the night.
The Met Office added that we should expect the following conditions tonight: "Rain continuing for most though gradually easing through the night, with extensive low cloud, mist and drizzle at times. Remaining breezy along coastal areas. Minimum temperature 12C."
The Met Office have issued the following warnings ahead of the approach of the storm as the rain and thunderstorms look set to cause disruption.
It said: "There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus with delays to train services possible.
"Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible, potentially leading to some damage to buildings or structures. Perhaps damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes, with short-term loss of power and other services possible."
