MORE weather warnings have been issued across Scotland as snow and ice hit the country.
The Met Office has issued a fresh yellow warning for snow and ice across most of the north of Scotland, including Orkney and Shetland as well as Aberdeen and Inverness.
The warning comes into force at 4pm on January 2 and will last until 10am on January 3.
People have been warned that some roads and railways are likely to be affected as a result of the weather.
Network Rail Scotland has already confirmed that the Far North Line and the Highland Main Line remain closed.
A separate warning for ice covering the west of the country, including Glasgow and the Western Isles and Dumfries and Galloway.
It comes into place at 5pm on January 2 and will end at 10am on January 3.
The forecaster said to expect “some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths” and that there could be some “injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces”.
Weekend warning
A third yellow warning for "heavy snow" has also been issued for the weekend.
It covers most of the country, including the Borders, Glasgow and Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness.
It will come into force on Sunday, January 5 at midnight and last until midday on Monday, January 6.
The Met Office has said power cuts are possible and that rural communities could be cut off.
