More heavy rain is on the way for parts of Wales with the Met Office issuing a weather warning for Tuesday (November 15). It is predicting that up to 50mm of rain could fall in a short period of time in certain areas.
The yellow alert is in place for most of Tuesday morning, from midnight until 1pm. It says: "A band of rain will move east across southern parts of England and Wales during Tuesday morning.
"Some of the rain will be heavy, with 15-30 mm of rain falling widely and as much as 40-50 mm over parts of Dartmoor and south facing high ground of southern Wales and the Marches and parts of southern England."
The areas covered by the warning in Wales are:
- Blaenau Gwent
- Bridgend
- Caerphilly
- Cardiff
- Carmarthenshire
- Merthyr Tydfil
- Monmouthshire
- Neath Port Talbot
- Newport
- Powys
- Rhondda Cynon Taf
- Swansea
- Torfaen
- Vale of Glamorgan
The Met Office forecast for Wales is showing an unsettled week with temperatures returning to what they should be for the time of year after an exceptionally mild weekend. Porthmadog saw temperatures of 21.2°C, making it the warmest place in the UK and hottest Remembrance Sunday on record.
The forecast for Monday in Wales says: "Generally cloudy with showery rain edging eastwards during the day. Probably turning sunnier in southwest Wales later and on some western coasts. Much less mild than on Sunday. Light winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
"Drier and clearer for some this evening but soon turning windy with rain spreading from the west overnight, this heaviest and most persistent over higher ground in the south. Minimum temperature 5 °C."
The outlook for the rest of the week says: "A wet morning on Tuesday with heavy and persistent rain developing for many. Brighter skies in the southwest by lunchtime with sunnier weather developing for many during the afternoon. Feeling cooler. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
"Changeable with bands of rain and heavy showers interspersed by drier and sunnier periods from Wednesday to Friday. Very windy at times and feeling cooler with temperatures much closer to the seasonal average."
