THE Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning which covers most of Scotland.
It comes following the chaos caused by Storm Babet as the worst-hit areas of the country begin to try recover from the damage caused by the extreme weather.
The yellow warning for ice will be in place from 9pm this evening until 9am on Monday morning.
It covers much of central Scotland, the Highlands and the east coast although the west coast will not be impacted as badly.
The forecaster said: “Icy patches may cause some disruption to travel on Monday morning.”
Regarding what to expect, the Met Office said:
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
Disruption is still widespread with ScotRail confirming routes are closed between Aberdeen and Dundee as well as Aberdeen and Elgin.
The operator also said it cannot run services on the Fife Circle route, or between Inverness and Wick, Thurso and Kyle of Lochalsh.
LNER has also advised its customers to not travel north of Edinburgh, and there are no LNER services operating from the city towards Aberdeen or Inverness.
