Met Office issues new yellow warning for ice for parts of Scotland

A NEW yellow warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office for parts of Scotland.

The forecaster said that “icy patches on untreated surfaces may lead to locally difficult travel conditions overnight and into Monday morning”.

The warning will be in place from 9pm on Sunday, December 22 and be in place until 10am on Monday, December 23.

In terms of what to expect, the Met Office said:

  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

The warning covers large parts of the Highlands and north east, including Aberdeen and Inverness.

Traffic Scotland has also warned people to be prepared ahead of travelling with disruption having continued on Sunday.
