New snow and ice weather warning for Nottinghamshire issued by the Met Office

The Met Office has issued an ice warning for the whole of Nottinghamshire this weekend, with parts of the county also being told to prepare for snow to cause disruption. The yellow warnings have been put in place for Sunday, December 18.

The entire county and most of the UK has been issued with the ice warning between 3am and 11am. The Met Office states on its website: "A period of rain and snow mixed falling on frozen surfaces will lead to icy conditions causing some travel disruption."

The forecaster said to expect some slips and falls on icy surfaces, icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths and disruption to road, air and rail services.

Parts of northern Nottinghamshire, such as Mansfield, Hucknall and Worksop have also been warned about snow. The Met Office states: "A period of snow will lead to some disruption to travel and other activities, before turning to rain later."

This could cause travel delays on roads and rural communities to be cut off, as well as power cuts. This warning is in place from 3am until 9pm on Sunday.
