Thunderstorms will hit the UK this afternoon with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning that spans from the south coast of England up to Scotland.
Travel is likely to be disrupted between 1pm and 8pm today with drivers told to expect spray, standing water and/or hail, which will lead to longer journey times.
The weather experts say trains and bus journey are also likely to be delayed and there will probably be some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.
A Met Office spokeswoman said: "Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop through this afternoon across much of central and eastern areas of Scotland, parts of central, eastern and southeastern England and southern areas of Northern Ireland, before easing during the evening.
"Where heavy showers develop, 15 mm of rain could fall within an hour and possibly 25 to 30 mm in 2 to 3 hours where showers become slow moving, along with lightning and hail."
