Met Office issues further weather warning as snow and ice continue to hit Liverpool

The Met Office has extended a weather warning across Liverpool.

More ice and snow is predicted for Liverpool and the rest of the north west of England over the weekend. Snow started to fall on Liverpool on Wednesday, March 8, as forecasters predicted, with the first flurries of snow fall recorded at around 1pm.

Since then the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for yesterday, March 9 and today, Friday, March 10. But now they have extended the warning to 10am tomorrow, Saturday, March 11.

The Met Office also warned that further snow fall has the potential to cause disruption Saturday evening into Sunday across the North West of England. People can expect travel delays, including cancelled bus and train services, and a "small chance" of power cuts. People are also being urged to take care on pavements and other icy surfaces.

The Met Office predicts the weather will then turn milder as Sunday progresses. Highs of 10C (that feel more like 7C) are forecast for 3pm. It is then predicted to be "unsettled on Monday with rain, perhaps snow and stronger winds."
