Met Office issues another weather warning for area of Merseyside

The Met Office has issued another weather warning for an area of Merseyside this week.

The region has been hit by wet and windy weather after last week's snow was replaced by heavy rain. These unsettled conditions are set to continue into Thursday, when the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain for parts of Merseyside.

The weather warning comes into force at midnight until 3pm on Thursday, and covers parts of Sefton including Southport and Formby, as well as areas like Ormskirk and Wigan.

People living in these areas can expect persistent rain which is likely to cause some difficult travel conditions. Spray and flooding on roads will likely make journey times longer.

The Met Office said rain will be particularly heavy over southwest facing hills. Liverpool, Wirral and St Helens are not currently covered by the weather warning but rain is forecast for these areas on Thursday afternoon.

The forecast for the north west on Thursday said: "Cloudy with further outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, with possible localised flooding. Windy especially along the coasts and hills. Milder. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

"Remaining unsettled with showers, heavy at times, and longer spells of rain into the weekend. Possibly drier on Sunday with some bright or sunny spells. Often windy though mild."
