Met Office update Scotland 'danger to life' alert as floods could damage homes and cut power

Two weather warnings have been issued as Scots brace themselves for a serious bout of wet weather.

On Friday morning, the Met Office issued updates for its two weather warnings as torrential rain lashes down on Scotland. The forecaster has now extended the yellow alert and the more serious amber warning.

Flood warnings have also been issued as the amber warning states that parts of Scotland are at risk of fast-flowing floods that could cause a "danger to life". This follows an updated yellow warning concerning heavy rain of up to 100mm.

Here's what you should know about both warnings, including when they will begin and how long they will last.
