Met Office hour-by-hour forecast for the North East as yellow weather warning in place

While the heat from earlier in the week is set to bleed into tomorrow, the Met Office predicts a humid and sticky state of affairs - with a yellow weather warning in place for rain. This week saw the North East blessed with beautiful temperatures and sunshine galore respectively, but it became tarnished by the grey clouds which sprung around midday today.

While a weather warning is in place across Newcastle and it's surrounding areas this evening for thunder until midnight, another for rain comes into play as soon as the current one expires - running through until noon tomorrow. The official forecast for tomorrow sees showers in the early hours of the morning, which are set to die off by sunrise.

Highs of 25C are anticipated, as the sun dives in and out of clouds all day, with lows of 15C in the darker periods. Hight UV rates and very high pollen counts will also be present.

Although Tuesday, at the time of writing has no weather warning in place, the Met Office predicts a cloudy day overall with the odd shower in the evening. Highs of 20C and lows of 14C are expected respectively.

The official Met Office forecast for tomorrow, reads: "Clearer and brighter to start with sunny spells through the day.

"Showers developing from late morning onwards, potentially heavy and thundery at times, easing into the evening. Dry, clear night. Maximum temperature 23 °C."

What to expect under the Met Office's yellow warning for rain:

  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads
  • There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
