Forecasters have given their verdict on whether Scotland will see temperatures soar to 30C this weekend thanks to a plume of warm air rising from the south.
Over the past few weeks, temperatures have been higher than average for this time of year, with the west of Scotland even being the warmest place in the UK last week.
However, the weather is set to change for much of the country, due to the area of high pressure that was causing the settled conditions is set to move away, according to forecasters.
The Met Office has said that the high pressure will drift off towards Scandinavia this week, meaning the settled conditions we've been seeing will come to an end.
This is good news for those in England, as a spell of warm air moving in will push temperatures up to a sweltering 30C in some areas. Storm Oscar, which has been named by the Spanish Meteorological Service (AEMET), will not impact the UK but will help to drive this warm plume of air.
But unfortunately for Scotland, this change in weather won't have quite the same effect.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said: “Temperatures will rise later this week and into the weekend, with a plume of warm air being drawn in from the south. Temperatures over the weekend could peak around 30°C in some parts of England and remain well above average during night-times.”
The Met Office states that east and northeast Scotland are likely to be the main exception to the change in conditions, with an easterly breeze possibly keeping temperatures more subdued with cloud likely to persist for some.
Some coastal areas will be cooler than the peak figures further inland, with sea breezes preventing the highest temperatures building on immediate coastlines.
Forecasters have also warned of "thundery outbreaks" spreading north and east over the weekend, with the possibility of some hail and gusty winds in some areas too.
Although temperatures in Scotland won't be reaching 30C like elsewhere in the UK, there won't be a dramatic drop - especially for those of us in the west.
The Met Office predicts highs of 24C in Glasgow this weekend, 16C in Edinburgh and 17C in Aberdeen, so it's likely people can still get out and make the most of the weather.
And next week, temperatures are still set to remain above average, but with more chance of cooler conditions in eastern coastal areas.
