Leeds is set to see a cold day ahead of the Christmas weekend, the Met Office has predicted. The forecast for the city and surrounding areas is predicting a cold and cloudy start to the day, with temperatures expected to be around 3C in the early morning rising to 7C throughout the afternoon.
Some showers are forecast at around midday and then later at 2pm and 3pm. Cloudy skies will then take over across the rest of the afternoon and into the evening.
The Met Office forecast for Yorkshire and Leeds says: "A lot of cloud. Some rain at times, especially across south Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with areas of hill fog in Pennine districts. Maximum temperature 10 °C."

Outlook for Friday to Saturday
Across Christmas Eve and Christmas day, the weather will be mostly dry but then some rain will be present in parts. On Christmas rain should be expected at times.
The Met Office forecast says: "Initially mostly dry on Friday, but heavy, persistent rain reaching all areas during the day. Bright and breezy on Saturday with a few showers. Rain at times on Christmas Day."
