The Met Office has extended the yellow weather warning for ice across Wales as temperatures continue to drop. The forecaster had previously issued a warning for Thursday, December 8, however this has now been brought forward to Wednesday. The yellow weather warning is now in place from 5pm on Wednesday, December 7, until 6pm on Thursday.
The warning has been updated to reduce it across Northern Ireland and Wales, and add an area across parts of south-west England. It now reads: "Frequent wintry showers will spread into Northern Ireland through the early hours of Thursday then on to Wales, parts of western and northwestern England, and parts of Southwest England.
"These will fall on frozen ground in many areas, leading to the formation of icy stretches on untreated surfaces. In addition, showers are likely to fall as snow on high ground, with slight accumulations possible in places."

Detailing what to expect, the Met Office said that some disruption is likely due to icy surfaces. It warned of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, and said there would "probably" be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. "Some roads and railways may be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services."
The warning had previously included south east areas such as Cardiff, Newport, Caerphilly and Balenau Gwent, but these have now been removed. This warning comes after the Met Office has forecasted sub-zero temperatures across Wales until the end of the week. In parts of Wales, temperatures are expected to drop to -5°C overnight.
