Met Office and BBC forecast as UK to be hotter than Ibiza

The Met Office has issued a fresh update as the UK will see temperatures of up to 23C.

Forecasters say there is good news, with the weather warming up this week across England and Wales. However, not all parts of the country will benefit from the higher temperatures.

The Met Office predicts Liverpool will see highs of 18C today (Thursday) though says more rain is forecast on Friday. Highs of 15C and 14C are expected on Friday and Saturday respectively, with the mercury rising a little from Sunday.

The BBC's advance forecast shows that in Liverpool, temperatures will be hitting 18C, 19C and even 23C next week. Speaking about the forecast for the next few days BBC weather forecaster Nick Miller said: "It is a different weather set up though for the day ahead, higher pressure building in will keep most of England and Wales dry. Closer to weather fronts in Scotland and Northern Ireland, there is a chance of seeing a little rain in fact a cloudy and damp start for many places here.”

"For Wales and England there is a slight chance of catching a shower, (but) the vast majority will stay dry and while there will be a lot of cloud about, it will be a warmer feeling day with some occasional sunny spells. Up to 22C in the warm spots in south east England. Here a lot of dry weather will continue as we get on into Thursday night.”

While the Met Office doesn't give exact temperatures for next week, its advanced forecast says we can expect dry weather with sunny spells.

It continues: " The settled weather will continue, widespread through the second half of the period" but says we can expect rain in the north west.

Forecasters added: "Temperatures are likely to rise above average through the first few days, except nearer to the coast and perhaps in the far north, which may see slightly cooler conditions, and it is expected to become warm, perhaps very warm, later in the period."

The Balearic islands, including Ibiza, are expecting some uncharacteristically cooler weather for this time of year. So with predicted temperatures of around 20C, the UK is indeed set to be hotter than Ibiza - at least for a day or two.
