Met Eireann warn of possible flooding due to heavy rainfall in Dublin

Met Eireann has predicted heavy outbreaks of rain across Dublin, which may lead to localised flooding in some areas.

The forecast suggests that the weather will start off mild but will gradually become more unsettled by the afternoon. Conditions will be cloudy with highest temperatures ranging from 12 to 14 degrees in the capital.

Met Eireann also says that fresh south easterly winds will affect Dublin mid-afternoon. While a Status Yellow weather warning is in place from 11AM to 9PM today for some counties, it has not been extended to Dublin. There is a risk of damaging gusts with speeds of up to 110km/h in counties such as neighbouring Wicklow.

The weather forecaster says: “Monday will be mild and mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. During the late afternoon and evening, rain will become heavier with localised flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees with fresh southerly winds increasing strong in the afternoon and evening.”

The national forecast for the next few weekdays is as follows.

Tuesday

Tuesday will bring sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms possible. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in fresh south to southwest winds.

Wednesday

Wednesday will start off bright with sunny spells and some showers further west. During the afternoon, outbreaks of rain will develop in the west and spread across the country through the evening and early night. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with light southerly winds gradually increasing and becoming fresh to strong on Wednesday night.

Thursday

Thursday will be mild, humid and mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Later in the day, more persistent rain will spread eastwards across the country. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees with fresh to strong southerly winds.

Met Eireann suggests that Friday and the weekend days will also experience rain showers and mild, unsettled weather, particularly across the western part of the country.
