Met Eireann’s forecast for the next few days looks to be grim with rain and winds battering a number of counties.
A status yellow rain warning has been updated and includes Clare, Kerry, Galway, and Mayo from 12:00 pm today until the same time on Tuesday as “heavy rain may lead to localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions.”
It may feel as though we have bid farewell to the summer, however, Irish meteorologists have pinpointed the return of summer sunshine very soon.

Next week, they say a high-pressure system will begin to rebuild once again bringing with it settled and dry conditions with temperatures remaining in the 20s.
As for the rest of this week, there will be a wet start to tonight with rain remaining heavy at times.
The rain will become more showery in nature as the night progresses bringing with it breezy but mild winds and lowest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.
Tomorrow morning will be cloudy with scattered showers and some sunny spells developing through the afternoon. As the showers become lighter, more isolated and generally confined to the west of the country, some sunshine will break through.
It is due to remain a little cooler on exposed western fringes, with highest temperatures generally ranging from 18 to 23 degrees, warmest on the east coast, in moderate to fresh southwest winds.
A mix of sunny spells and light scattered showers will arrive on Wednesday, the showers mainly in the afternoon with highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.
There'll be clear spells with just isolated light showers on Atlantic coasts on Wednesday night, with lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.
Thursday will be dry for most of the day with just isolated showers in the west and northwest.
There'll be some sunshine in the afternoon and it will be fresher than of late with highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly winds.
Friday will be a similar day, mainly dry with some sunshine in the morning and a few showers in the afternoon, mainly in the west and northwest - and temperatures will reach 18C.
As for further afield, there is some good news for the sunworshipers out here, as Met Eireann says: “Current indications suggest that high pressure will continue to slowly build in to the weekend leading to mostly dry and settled conditions.”
