Met Eireann's thunderstorm warning for Dublin while parts of Europe roast in 30C scorcher

Good morning, folks! Remember to carry your brollies with you because Dublin will be lashed by rain over the next few days.

Despite the rain, the capital will enjoy mild temperatures while some parts of Europe will bask in a 30-degree scorcher. Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said: "Another mild day across most of Europe [yesterday] and Ireland got up to 16 degrees.

"It will stay mild into early next week with Ireland set to see up to 18 degrees [today]. Southern France could see up to 30 degrees next few days!"

Today will start with outbreaks of rain which will break up in the afternoon. It'll be dry the rest of the day with temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.

Tonight will see heavy rain with a chance of embedded thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 9 to 12 degrees.

Tomorrow will be a bit of a mixed bag with sunny spells and scattered showers. Temperatures will be around 14 to 17 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Friday night

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Clear spells at first tomorrow night. Rain will develop in the southwest, extending along southern coasts, then slowly pushing northwards. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in mostly moderate south to southeast winds.

Saturday

"Rain over the southern half of the country will be heavy at times on Saturday morning, bringing a risk of flooding. The rain will clear northwards in the early afternoon to scattered showers.

"Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

"Most places will be dry on Saturday night, there is a chance of heavy showers on coasts of the south and east, possibly bringing thunderstorms to coastal districts at times. Lowest temperatures 9 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh southeast winds.

Sunday

"Sunny spells and scattered heavy showers becoming widespread on Sunday afternoon. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, strong at times in the afternoon and around showers."
