Met Eireann’s latest forecast shows a number of areas across Ireland getting some much-needed sunshine over the coming days.
However, the boost in conditions won’t last long with a big change expected early next week - which will extend into the weekend.
This afternoon, outbreaks of rain are due in the midlands, east, and south but will clear into the evening with rather breezy conditions also easing.

It’ll turn colder as the rain clears, but it will be dry, calm, and mostly clear tonight with a widespread frost and possible icy stretches. Lowest temperatures of 0 to -3 degrees are expected with some possible mist or fog in parts too.
Sunday morning will be cold, frosty, and locally foggy but it will be dry with hazy sunshine developing as the frost and fog clear.
Things will remain cloudier near the southwestern fringes with the chance of a little drizzle near the coast there too. It’ll be a cool day with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, in mostly moderate, occasionally fresh, southerly breezes.
Sunday night will be cloudy with patches of light rain and drizzle developing alongside lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.
Monday will see mostly cloudy conditions with scattered light rain or drizzle, mainly in Atlantic coastal counties - while the best of the drier conditions and sunny spells will be in the southeast where the highest temperatures will reach 10 degrees in mostly moderate southerly winds.
On Tuesday, the cloud and patchy rain will only gradually clear towards the southeast through the days, lingering in the southeast into the evening.
Dry and bright conditions will follow as the rain clears with highest temperatures ranging from 7 to 11 degrees in light variable winds.
That night will feature a mix of clear spells and cloudier conditions but mostly dry with just isolated patches of rain or drizzle.
On Wednesday, it’s due to stay predominantly dry for much of the day. Moderate southerly winds will freshen through the day before rain begins to extend in from the west later in the evening.
As for the forecaster’s further outlook, their predictions state that: “After and damp and blustery Wednesday night current indications suggest it will remain changeable and at times unsettled up to and including the weekend”.
