Met Eireann has predicted subzero conditions for Dublin this week while a weather expert has pinpointed the day ‘winter starts’ as cooler temperatures continue as we head into December.
According to Met Eireann, it will become mainly sunny today as showers gradually become isolated, there'll be largely dry conditions by evening. Highest temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees. Moderate west to northwest winds, easing light by evening.
It will be cold and dry tonight with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of minus 1 to plus 2 degrees bringing frost. Light variable winds will allow mist and fog to develop, which may become dense in places by dawn.

According to Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather, “Winter starts Thursday.” He said that we will see our weather patterns approaching from the east instead of the west in a winter switch-up.
He wrote on Twitter: "Winter starts Thursday and instead of looking West for our Weather we will be looking East as our weather pattern changes. Cooler weather is likely from towards end of week as this animation of upper air temps show. However just how cool and how long it will last is uncertain."
Here's the rest of the week's forecast from Met Eireann:
Tuesday
"Tomorrow, Tuesday, morning mist and fog will be slow to clear from inland parts, it will be generally dry with sunny spells otherwise. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees, and remaining colder where fog persists. Winds will be light variable.
