Met Eireann predicts frosty Dublin weather following brief cold snap

Fog and cold conditions will grip Dublin this morning, before hazy sunshine and warmer temperatures set in.

Mist and fog may linger in some local areas today but the forecast suggests that Sunday will be mostly dry, with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees. The sunshine will eventually give way to cloudier weather later tonight, with drizzle likely.

Night temperatures will hover above zero, with lows of 1 to 5 degrees expected. Some light fog and mist patches may also develop later on tonight.

The weather will remain relatively mild in the coming days as temperatures align close to the February average. However, Met Eireann warns that unsettled conditions could develop later on in the week.

The forecast for the next few days is listed below.

Sunday night

Cloudy and mostly dry with just a few patches of light rain and drizzle developing. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees, in light to moderate southerly winds with a few mist and fog patches developing also.

Monday

Mostly dry and bright in the morning with good sunny spells. Becoming a little cloudier but remaining dry during the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees in mostly moderate southerly winds.

Monday night

Turning mostly cloudy with a weak band of patchy light rain extending from the northwest through the night. As the rain clears the northwest towards morning, drier clearer conditions will develop. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, or locally lower where clear spells persist initially in the southeast and later in the northwest once the rain clears as light southwest winds veer northerly.

Tuesday

The cloud and patchy rain will only gradually clear towards the southeast through the day, but will lingering in the southeast in the evening. Dry and bright conditions will follow, the best of which will be in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees as light variable winds fall calm locally.

Tuesday night

Remaining cloudier in the southeast with a few isolated patches of rain or drizzle, mostly dry with a mix of clear spells and cloudier conditions but mostly dry. It will become cloudier nationwide towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees generally, with a touch of frost possible in the north and west. Light southerly winds will increase moderate towards morning.
