Met Eireann predicts unsettled and miserable weather to continue into next week with little in the way of good news in their monthly forecast covering the first weeks of April.
After a wet and windy St Patrick's day, most of the country looks set to endure more torrential downpours as we head into next week.
There is no let up today and although it will be calmer overnight, Met Éireann says "cold with frost and ice" is possible, as temperatures fall to between -1 and +2 degrees.

They say Sunday will be a "mostly dry but cold start with crisp morning sunshine.
"A band of rain will move into the west later in the morning and will spread eastwards to most areas in the afternoon. It will become drier in the south by evening, but rain will persist in northern areas. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with a moderate to fresh southerly wind developing."
Monday will bring a wet start to the week as widespread rain continues over the northern half of the country with scattered showers elsewhere. Later in the afternoon a band of persistent rain will move in from the west with heavy falls at times. Southerly winds will be fresh to strong and highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.
Here is Met Eireann's forecast for the early days of next week:
Monday Night: Outbreaks of rain continuing throughout the country during the night with possible thunderstorms in the west. Moderate to fresh southerly winds and lowest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees.
Tuesday: An unsettled day with showers early on followed by a band of more persistent rain moving in from the west. The rain will gradually spread throughout the country by the afternoon, possibly heavy at times in the west. Moderate southwest winds freshening along Atlantic coasts. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.
Tuesday Night: Widespread rain, heavy and persistent in the west. The rain will continue through the night with fresh to strong south to southwest winds. Lows of 4 to 6 degrees.
Wednesday: Current indications are for a rather unsettled day. A band of rain will move off the country followed by scattered showers. Blustery southerly winds with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.
Beyond that, there is little in the way of good news with Met Eireann saying the current spell will last into April.
"As we move to the end of March and into the early days of April, there is a continued signal for low pressure to be positioned close to Ireland bringing changeable weather conditions.
"Rainfall amounts are expected to be above average in most areas with showery conditions likely at times. Mean air temperatures are forecast to be close to the climatological average with alternating incursions of mild and cold airmasses throughout the period."
