Met Eireann’s latest forecast shows some miserable weather arriving in for two regions later this week - while others enjoy another bout of dry weather.
There is some uncertainty around this weekend’s fate with weather expert Alan O’Reilly saying some forecasts show “high pressure close by" bringing "mainly dry" weather, however "ECMWF has a little low spoiling things with showers and also warmer. Wait and see for now I’m afraid.”
As for Tuesday, it will be partly cloudy with isolated light showers in some areas. Highest temperatures will reach 19 degrees, and will be coolest in the northwest, with a light northwesterly or variable breeze.
Wednesday will be dry with some sunny intervals in the morning, however, during the afternoon and evening, cloud will build from the southwest and scattered showers will develop. Highest temperatures will hit 19 degrees with a light southeasterly or variable breeze.
The general outlook for the rest of the weeks is “a few showers on Thursday but becoming more unsettled from Friday with spells of rain and showers,” according to the Irish forecaster.
Thursday will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells along with scattered showers, mainly in the east. It will become drier and sunnier towards evening and highest temperatures will increase to around 21 degrees in a light easterly or variable breeze.
Heading towards the weekend, it will be mostly dry with sunny spells on Friday morning, however, cloud will build in the west, and patches of light rain or drizzle will develop near the coast.
Cloud will increase across the rest of the country during the afternoon and evening and rain will develop in the west and north, with some heavy bursts possible.
Highest temperatures will be up around 23 degrees in a light to moderate south to southwest wind, fresh at times near the west and northwest coast.
The rain will move eastwards on Friday night and showers will develop in the northwest towards morning. It will be milder than recent nights with temperatures staying above 14 to 17 degrees, in a light to moderate southwesterly wind.
At this point, the forecast for Saturday shows things remaining quite cloudy with scattered showers, but some sunny breaks are likely later in the afternoon and in the evening.
Highest temperatures will range between 17 degrees in the northwest and 23 degrees in the southeast, in a light southwest to west or variable breeze.
