Ireland is set for mainly “dry and settled” weather throughout the rest of the working week as high pressure continues to dominate this week.
However, Met Éireann has forecast that there will be some freezing nights ahead for the rest of the week where the temperature is set to drop below zero, despite this, it is set to pick up by the end of the week.
Here is everything you need to know about Met Éireann’s national forecast for the week until Sunday.
Thursday, March 2
It is set to be mainly dry on Thursday, with “sunny spells and well scattered light showers, mainly in the east. The evening will be largely dry.” Afternoon highs will reach 7C to 9C with light easterly breezes.
Thursday night will be a mostly cloudy evening but there will be some clear breaks at times too. Met Éireann added that “Any lingering patchy light rain will clear away overnight in a light easterly breeze. Lowest temperatures of -1C to 2C so a touch of frost is possible.”
Friday, March 3
It will be another cloudy start on Friday but some sunny spells will begin to develop especially in the north.
The national forecaster added that there will be “a few patches of light rain or drizzle for southern areas in light to moderate southeasterly breeze. Highs of 7C to 9C.”
On Friday night it “will stay mainly dry and cloudy, especially in the south of the country. Further north clearer spells will develop with a light to moderate easterly breeze.
“It will be cold overnight in the north with temperatures falling below freezing at -2C but further south it should stay a touch milder at 0C to 2C, so some frosty patches are possible.”

Saturday will “start off mainly fine and dry with good early sunny spells but later in the morning cloud will push in from the south.”
It will be a cloudy afternoon but should stay mainly dry apart from a few patches of drizzle in the far southwest. Highs of 7C to 9C in a light southerly breeze.
Moving into the evening it will be cloudy but will stay mainly dry in the southerly breeze.
Temperatures will fall to around 4C or 5C in the south where “there's greater cloud cover but a little cooler further north with 1C to 3C.”
