Met Eireann issue triple weather warning as five counties in for terrible 24 hours

Met Eireann has issued weather warnings for five counties as Ireland is set to be bashed with horrid conditions.

Galway, Mayo and Kerry will see spells of heavy rain, with the heaviest of the showers to be in coastal and mountainous areas.

Localised flooding and isolated thunderstorms are also possible.

Status Yellow Rain warning for the three counties will remain in place from 1pm Monday to 10am Tuesday.

Cork will also see some dreadful conditions as heavy downpours will be seen across the county.

Once again, the worst of the rain will affect coastal and mountainous areas, and localised flooding and thunderstorms are possible.

The Status Yellow Rain warning for Cork will come into play at 6pm Monday and will last until 12pm Tuesday.

The final and third warning has been issued for Co Waterford.

People in the area are warned that heavy rainfall will limit visibility of roads, with the worst affected regions coastal and mountainous.

Localised flooding and isolated thunderstorms are also possible.

The Status Yellow Rain warning for Waterford will begin at 10pm tonight and last until 2pm Tuesday.

For the rest of the country, this afternoon should be generally dry this morning with sunny spells. However, scattered showers will develop in places.

Cloud will increase from the Atlantic, bringing outbreaks of rain and drizzle to western areas during the afternoon and evening.

Thankfully, many eastern areas will be dry for much of the day.

Highest temperatures will reach 14 to 17 or 18 degrees.

Light to moderate southwesterly winds will back southerly and freshen into the afternoon, increasing strong along Atlantic coasts.

Wet and breezy conditions will be seen tonight, with heavy thundery rain bursts leading to spot flooding.

Lowest temperatures 10 to 13 degrees in fresh to strong southerly winds.

Lingering overnight rain will clear eastwards on Tuesday morning with sunny spells and scattered heavy showers following for the rest of the day.

Rather breezy in mostly fresh southwesterly winds. A milder day with highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, best values across the northeast.

Clear spells and well scattered showers will be seen at night, mainly affecting Atlantic counties towards morning.

Lows of 7 to 10 degrees, in just light southwest breezes.

Showery conditions will affect the western half of Ireland during the first half of the day, later arriving into the eastern half of the country.

Some sharp, possibly thundery bursts will affect eastern counties around evening.

Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 or 19 degrees, best values away from the Atlantic, all in mostly light westerly breezes.
