Met Eireann has given an unusual forecast as sunshine spreads across the country over the coming days.
The east of the country is set to see the best of the weather as showers mainly affect the western half.
A forecaster said: “The promised sunshine has arrived for most now and Autumn is showing her late colours in the sunshine. Showers will push into the West this afternoon and move across the country, some will be heavy also.

“Before the wet Monday we have heavy showers tonight and also tomorrow. Very hit and miss but some will be heavy and thundery with risk of lightning strikes once again. Hard to pinpoint locations but latest high resolution model forecast here.
“There is some good news for the Eastern half of country with most heavy rainfall over next 5 days in the West. Very wet Monday but models show pressure rising and very little rainfall from Wednesday for a few days in the east. Up to 100mm is possible in West by Thursday though.”
Meanwhile, early this evening, most areas will be dry and clear; however, there will be a few showers in the west, and they will extend towards the east later this evening, while light to moderate south to southwest winds will freshen in the west.
Early tonight, a spell of heavy, thundery rain will push into the west. The rain will gradually spread eastwards overnight, leading to flooding in places.
Quite breezy in moderate to fresh southerly winds. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.
Tomorrow there will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered heavy showers. Showers will turn more frequent and prolonged in western Atlantic coastal counties through the day.
Some showers will be thundery with the ongoing risk of flooding. Becoming overcast in the southwest by evening ahead of a further spell of rain.
Blustery in moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong at times in the southwest. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees generally.
Rain will become widespread Sunday night, with further heavy falls possible. Lowest temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees in fresh to strong southerly winds.
Rain will continue through Monday, turning heavier later in the afternoon and in the evening with the chance of embedded thunderstorms.
Highest temperatures of 13 or 15 degrees in strong southerly winds.
The rain will clear eastwards Monday night and will be followed by blustery showers from the west.
Lowest temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds.
Sunny spells and scattered showers on Tuesday heaviest and most frequent for Atlantic coastal counties.
Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in fresh south to southwest winds.
A similar day on Wednesday, temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees with strong southerly winds bringing showers, mainly affecting Atlantic coastal regions with the best of any clearer weather in the east and northeast.
Current indications suggest the further outlook will continue unsettled with further spells of rain and showers, breezy at times too, with the strong southerly winds bringing higher than usual temperatures for the time of year.
