Met Eireann forecaster confirms 26C heat for one part of Ireland but with dramatic weather change soon

Ireland won’t be feeling the heat the way the rest of Europe is this week.

While countries such as Spain have issued weather warnings about extreme heat as temperatures rocket up to 40 degrees the only bit of summer sunshine we’ll be getting is on Friday.

And that's only if you’re in Leinster or Munster.

According to Matthew Martin of Met Eireann Friday will bring, “very warm air across the east and south of the country, dry, warm with hazy sunshine in many parts of Leinster and Munster for a time on Friday, with highest temperatures, perhaps getting up to 25 or 26 degrees.”

Connacht and Ulster won’t be soaking up the sun as much as according to the forecast as it will be cloudier here and cooler.

There is also a chance of patchy rain showers moving across these parts as well.

Temperatures will also be much lower only reaching 15 or 16 degrees in parts of the west and northwest.

Cloud and isolated light rain will move south eastwards across the country on Friday night.

Lowest temperatures of 9 to13 degrees in a light to moderate west to northwest wind.

The bit of sun the Leinster and Munster gets will be short lived as there is set to be a dramatic drop in temperature.

Met Eireann reports that the rest of the weekend is to be changeable.

On Saturday, expect that warm air in the southeast will be long gone and we’ll have cooler Northwest through air flows. According to Martin there will be “some scattered showers and some bright spells too.”

Looking at Sunday he reports that it will be “rather fresh and breezy. With sunny spells and scattered showers and highest temperatures of about 16 or 17 degrees.”
