Met Eireann forecast date for return of sunshine before August Bank Holiday change

Ireland is set to see a return of the summer sunshine this week as showers of heavy rain subside for the majority of the country.

Northern Ireland has seen flash flooding over the weekend, with Met Eireann issuing a Status Yellow Rain Warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

Heavy showers and some thunderstorms have caused some travel disruption and flooding overnight.

A forecaster said: “After the showers today, it does look largely dry for next week up to Thursday or Friday. A few showers Monday maybe and still very breezy but wind easing off Tuesday and dry for most. Bank Holiday weekend uncertain yet, not looking too bad but could be showery.”
