Met Eireann confirms hot spell as Dublin to roast in 25-degree scorcher

Dublin is going to experience a few more days of nasty unsettled weather but a fantastic change is on the way.

High pressure will bring glorious sunshine and sweltering temperatures at the start of next week. "At the moment it looks like temperatures will rise to mid-twenties with some nice sun!!" Weather Alerts Ireland said on Facebook.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "A good deal of dry weather is expected [next week] though there will be showers at times. Temperatures will be in the high teens to low twenties."

Today will start with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers which will be heaviest early on. Some showers may turn thundery and the highest temperatures will be between 17 and 19 degrees.

Tonight will be cloudy at times with showers dying away overnight. Temperatures will stay between 8 and 10 degrees.

Tomorrow is set to be another cloudy day with the occasional outbreaks of rain or drizzle. But it will turn dry and bright in the afternoon and evening.

But persistent rain will take over shortly before nightfall with the highest temperatures of 16 or 17 degrees.

While there is no further forecast for Dublin, here is what the national outlook says:

Thursday night

The forecaster continued: "Showers will become more isolated overnight. Cloud will build from the west with patchy drizzle developing on the western and northwest coasts by morning. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in light west to southwest breezes.

Friday

"Friday will be mostly cloudy with dry intervals and some patchy drizzle or light showers at times. In the afternoon, more persistent rain will develop in the west and will spread eastwards through the evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with moderate southwest winds becoming southerly.

Friday night

"On Friday night, the rain will clear eastwards with clear spells and scattered showers following. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.

Saturday

"Saturday will bring sunny spells and scattered showers. There will be some decent dry intervals too. Highest temperatures ranging from 14 or 15 degrees in the northwest to 19 degrees in the southeast with moderate westerly winds.

Sunday

"Sunday will be mainly dry with some bright or sunny spells and a few showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in light to moderate westerly breezes."
