Messages of support to family of woman who died in crash

Messages of support have poured in for the family of a woman who was killed in a crash.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a fatal car crash at around 8.25am on North Moor Lane in Halsall today (Monday, October 17). Lancashire Police shut the road for a number of hours, with the force now confirming that a woman died as a result of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services. Today, dozens of people paid tribute to the woman and sent messages of condolences to her family.

Writing on the ECHO's Facebook page, Sarah Campbell said: "Sincere condolences to her family and friends." Scott Bentley added: "Such sad news R.I.P. Y.N.W.A. Thoughts are with family and friends through this difficult time."

Tracey Kinney also said: "So sad RIP sending love to her family and friends at this time." Ann Louise Starkie said: "Thoughts and prayers for her family and friends." People also paid tribute by sending heart and flower emojis.

Sgt Phil Baxendale, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “This incident has resulted in a woman losing her life and my thought are with her loved ones at this extremely distressing time.

“We are now working to establish the full circumstances of the collision and what caused it. I would ask any witnesses or anybody with dashcam or CCTV footage which could assist our enquiries to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Police urged people to avoid the area, with it believed that the road was shut for around six hours following the crash. Anyone with information is asked to email 2957@lancashire.police.uk or call 101, quoting log 303 of October 17, 2022.
